Anybody up for a spontaneous mini-flocking, local day trip today?

Wife is taking the kids swimming, sun is up, and the yard work can wait.

Happy to send my mobile # via PM to coordinate.

Hey PapaSmurf replied via PM. Pasting most of it here for the others and future reference...

Think I am going to bail on it for today. Got wrapped up in a project around the house. We should try organizing a ride for local t-birds another time - but suppose everyone could use a bit more notice.

Some ideas could be:

- First Sunday in Ephrata. Seems to be a good central location based on everyone's location. Would be more of a meetup than a group ride which might be fine anyway.

- For a more northerly destination there's The Riverwalck Saloon in Parryville, PA Link

- To the south I like Northeast, MD or Port Deposit

- For something a bit closer the area between West Chester/Downingtown and French Creek State Park is my usual stomping grounds with lots of good places for a pit stop/bite, etc.

Well, not to let a perfectly good thread go to waste, here's what you missed. I took a ride to Sky Manor Airport, in Pittstown, NJ; a friendly little airport in the middle of nowhere with a nice cafe on site and seating and tables practically right on the airstrip. Watched a nice collection of single engine planes come and go as well as a couple vintage aircraft and a helicopter.

Saw a couple of guys helping an elderly-looking woman into the front cockpit of a bright yellow Navy biplane and then somone seated behind her and only after the engine started up did I realize the elderly-looking woman was the pilot! She might have bought the biplane new. She taxied past me to the end of the runway and was smoothly ariborne before she got even a third down the runway.

And of course no ride is complete without ice cream. My first tartufo; a ball of ice cream, covered with a chocolate shell and hiding a core of almonds and a cherry (with whipped cream and chocolate fudge on the side, of course). Not too shabby for an airport cafe!

Well that definitely would have been amusing enough for the likes of me.

Hey Kevin.
Sounds good. Just need a good date time and destination to organize around.

In other news, the family and I drove past Haverhill MA on our way to our vacation spot here in Maine. Had the timing been better we might have stopped in at Dave's!!! shop to say hello and maybe get our tire pressure and oil level checked!

I'm in too with a little bit of notice. I'm busy at work but still have 3 weeks to kill. If you want to try an airport we have a grass one in Bucks County near Erwinna. Snack stand open on weekends. It's a biker friendly ride stop . Can even take a plane ride if they aren't booked up. Great roads all around for a full day's ride.

Let's do Buford's plan on Sat. Sept. Backup would be the following Sat if needed. If we can get at least 3 to confirm then we can reach out to the rest of the PA clan via PM.

This Saturday, I can intercept once the route is known or meet there. The following Saturday is Lansdale Bike Nite (starts at 6pm) and Sunday is Roar to the Shore.

Adding the date would help. I was thinking of the 12th with the 19th as a backup. Just an offer to get things moving on this plan. I'd like to suggest that someone from the greater Philly area take the lead on planning. Otherwise i can lead a central PA ride if the majority want to come out this far.

Can't ride weekend of 12th due to work obligation.

Weekend of the 19th would good though with Sunday being better than Saturday but either Ok.

I'm good for any Saturday or Sunday in September. You guys decide which you want to do and I'll be there. I'll plot a little Bucks County ride, winding out and back to the Delaware multiple times between New Hope and Easton. Let me know what time you need to be home so I don't get us too far north when you want to head home.

We're getting closer. Charlie, the 18th is a Friday. Looks like you, me, John, and Paul can make either Saturday (19) or Sunday (20.) Please let us know if you are good for one or the other or both. John, can we lean on you to set the meeting place and time and plan the route?

Yup - I'll work on it this week. I'll try to set a meet a little more westerly, then we can head northeast to the river and then south through various back country locales.

OK - so who is in for this Saturday?

Do you guys from farther west - Kevin, Charlie, and Paul - want to slab it to the Willow Grove exit of the turnpike? I'll meet you there at the Sonic which is just off the turnpike (stay right to 611 north at exit) and take it from there to cruise Bucks along the Delaware.

If you don't want the turnpike ride I can meet you in Valley Forge say, the n we can catch 29 to 113 and take that up a ways to 611. Then we cross that and every road between 6111 and the Delaware is a back roads treat.

We can get breakfast if you like. We have multiple options for a good lunch so that's no issue.

Let's get a tally and start from there.

My first choice would be valley forge as that will save me some miles and time. I'll go with the majority though. I'm in.

All Philly Area TBirds,

We'll meet at the Sheraton off N. Gulph Rd., in Valley Forge at 10:00 AM tomorrow. If you have not confirmed on this forum, by text, or PM please do so we don't leave anybody behind. Coming off of the PA Tpk, take the first exit after the toll booth. That is N. Gulph Rd. / Valley Forge Park. Sheraton will be 1/4 mi. on the right. So far we have:

Me (Beatykm)
John (Buford)
Dave (DSPrez)
Charlie (n3zat)

Looking for a confirmation from PapaSmurf on place and time.

Paul (ratdog) is MIA. Come on Paul...you started this. Where are you???

Hey all.
I will be there. Where are we going anyway?

Like how I commit first and ask questions later?

Just wish meeting spot was more than 5 mins from my house. Might have to take the long way there to warm up my motor!

He's alive! Great, tell Mrs. Ratdog we'll be over for showers after our ride. John is the man with the plan. I guess we will know when we meet up. Looks like a mini-flocking of 6. Jamie would be proud.
